This novel is murder mystery / conspiracy type of story with the surving former crewmates of the Stargazer. We know from the show, it is revealed that Beverly 's husband died during a mission led by Captain Picard, but we did not know the details. This novel answers that question and beings a better understanding of how that event plays into the reaction of the other surving crewmenbers ... Years later.
