2 lonely people in Texas. Both face hardships of various types from raiding Indians, hard winters, loneliness and the trials of cattle herding. Well paced with some gunplay and a good saloon fight. The romance angle was done well, both the man and woman new what they wanted but almost didn't recognise it in the other. Some say that L'Amour is formulaic which is in some ways true but when a body wants a western it's nice to have a consistently good author who won't break the mould or ignore genre tropes.
