I didn't read this novel when it was first published in 1978 to coincide with the release of "Superman, The Movie" and always figured it was a novelization of that film. Well, I was wrong. A new edition was published in 2018, and I bought it. Elliot S! Maggin wrote Superman comic books for 15 years and I always enjoyed his stories; they had heart. And this book is no different. Actually it would have made a hell of a good movie in itself. Superman is forced to team up with arch villain Lex Luthor to recover Albert Einstein's last message, which was sealed in a vault since his death, and then stolen by an alien from a distant planet. Actually, Lex Luthor tried to steal it, but the alien stole it right out from under him. It is a great story with wonderful characterization, a lot of adventure, wit -- and heart.
